After welcoming you in the past to the pomp and splendor of royal ceremonies and suppers, Arion invites you to more intimate settings, where music full of grandeur resounded more discreetly, but with greater charm and no less beauty. Welcome to the apartments of the queens and dauphines of France’s Grand Siècle and Enlightenment, where the works of fine female composers appealed in equal measure to those of their male counterparts. Alongside the likes of Rameau and Leclair, discover the talented women who under the possible pseudonyms of Mesdemoiselles Laurant and Duval, graced and enlivened the royal households. Mathieu Lussier will be our guide, conducting the orchestra, while the voice of radiant Canadian soprano Emma Fekete will shine brightly.
The opening act for the concert on Sunday, Octobre 5 will be another edition of « Arion Academy »! At 1:30 pm, instrumentalists from the early music department of McGill University's Schulich School of Music will perform a pre-concert joined by Arion founding member Hank Knox on harpsichord.
Free admission with your ticket for the Arion concert. Come and support the next generation of early musicians!
