The Arion Foundation is committed to providing ongoing support to the Arion Baroque Orchestra, enabling it to present electrifying performances, make music accessible to all, develop its educational projects and nurture the next generation of musicians.
The Arion Foundation was created in 2005 on the initiative of Arion's Board of Directors, then chaired by Suzanne Masson. Since 2009, Mr. François Mongrain has been President of the Foundation, guiding its initiatives and growth.
In 2019, the Foundation created the Claire Guimond Perpetuity Fund to support the orchestra's financial stability and long-term success. This shows the Foundation's commitment to preserving the Arion Baroque Orchestra's legacy and its important contributions to culture, notably to Montreal's cultural life.
At the heart of its mission, the Arion Foundation aims to help make the Orchestra's music more accessible to as wide an audience as possible, including young people.
Arion Baroque Orchestra offers an annual concert season, youth concerts, activities for school children and partnerships with universities to offer master classes with guest artists. Through youth concerts and outreach workshops, Arion Baroque Orchestra strives to inspire the next generation of musicians and music lovers.
The Arion Foundation supports initiatives aimed at developing the next generation of artists. Mentoring programs, led by seasoned performers and international artists, provide invaluable guidance and support to up-and-coming musicians. Immersive workshops also offer hands-on experience of Baroque music.
The Foundation aims to increase the worldwide influence of Arion Baroque Orchestra, by supporting the Orchestra's touring projects.
Through strategic partnerships with renowned academic institutions, Arion Baroque Orchestra cultivates a dynamic educational environment. The Arion Foundation supports initiatives that go beyond traditional concerts, encompassing workshops, youth concerts, master classes and community outreach programs. These experiences are designed to attract diverse audiences and inspire a passion for classical music and the discovery of Baroque music.
All donations are deposited and managed by the Foundation of Greater Montreal, ensuring transparency and accountability. Your contribution ensures financial sustainability for Arion Baroque Orchestra, as each donation is invested in a perpetual fund.
What's more, your donations are tax-deductible, allowing you to support the arts while benefiting from tax advantages. For initial major cultural donations of $5,000 to $25,000, the Quebec government offers a tax break that reduces the net cost to the donor to around 25% of the amount of the donation.
The high leverage effect of the Mécénat Placement Culture (Québec) and Heritage Canada Endowment Incentives programs can substantially multiply the donations received, so that the orchestra can benefit in perpetuity from an annual income approaching an amount equal to the net cost of the donation for the donor.
