An ensemble with a flexible lineup, Les Jacobins is more of a project than an established group.
Born from a desire to explore the rich but little-known repertoire of music centered around the French Revolution, and a wish to introduce it to a wider audience, the group, formed by Mathieu Lussier in collaboration with wind musicians from near and far, has released two albums on the ATMA label, a first dedicated to the music of François-Joseph Gossec and a second featuring the music of Étienne-Nicolas Méhul.
Other projects are underway, such as the world premiere recording of the symphonies for wind instruments by Devienne, Méhul, Jadin, Gossec, and Catel, on period instruments, and continuing to delve into this rich repertoire for wind instruments.
