Matthias Soly-Letarte has been immersed in a musical environment from an early age. After studying at the musically oriented Le Plateau elementary school, he continued his high school studies at two schools also offering the music program, Joseph-François Perrault and Pierre-Laporte, where he chose to specialize in classical percussion. He then went on to study at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he was unanimously awarded First Prize with Great Distinction in 2015. Since graduating, he has been regularly engaged by various symphony orchestras and ensembles such as Orchestre Métropolitain, Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivière, SMCQ, ECM+, Les Idées Heureuses and Harmonie des saisons. He is particularly interested in early music and 20th-century and contemporary repertoire.
