Sarah Bleile Douglass is a versatile baroque violinist who has charmed audiences in North America and Europe in both her fields of baroque music and traditional fiddling. She is recognized and respected by her colleagues because of her dedication, fiery energy and attention to detail. In May 2020, she received her Master’s degree in baroque violin from McGill University, studying with Olivier Brault. During this program, she had the opportunity to study abroad at the Royal Conservatory The Hague, with Kati Debretzeni and Walter Reiter. She also earned a professional diploma in baroque violin and a Bachelor’s degree in violin performance from the San Francisco Conservatory, studying with Elizabeth Blumenstock and Ian Swensen. Her recent appearances include performing at the Sudbury Historical Society with her fiddle band, the Berwick Fiddle Consort, and performing French baroque music with Arion Baroque Orchestra. Along with her duo partner Shelby Yamin, she recently released her debut album under the Orpheus Classical label as the premiere recording of the violin duets by Maddalena Sirmen Lombardini. She currently plays with ensembles in Calgary and Montreal including Arion Baroque Orchestra, Rosa Barocca, Pallade Musica and Erathos Renaissance Chamber Ensemble. Sarah has a lively interest in all things Scottish and hopes to raise her son to be fluent in Gaelic.
